Who We Are

Deon Edwards partners with her husband in Why Not Now Ministries.  She is committed to guiding individuals towards a genuine relationship with God that will empower them to perpetuate the gospel in our culture.

A strong advocate for educational empowerment, she has served as a teacher and school administrator within the New York City Public School System for 19 years.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public and Education Administration. Utilizing her gift of teaching, she served as Christian Education teacher at the Church of God of East Flatbush for many years and continues to share her gift as lead facilitator of Bible Talk, a weekly bible teleconference, where biblical principles and their practical application to daily living are discussed.

Deon’s passion for healthy marriages has resulted in the birth of the ministry’s first initiative, Right Relationships.  Deon and Wayne design and facilitate monthly hands-on workshops that equip and empower singles as well as engaged and married couples with fundamental principles for building and maintaining healthy, long-lasting relationships.

Deon is a fervent worshipper.  During our weekend service she leads in prayer and powerful worship encouraging all to engage a Holy God and reap the blessings that He promises.

Reverend Wayne Edwards is founder and leader of Why Not Now Ministries which equips, empowers and encourages individuals to begin and grow in their relationship with God for purposeful living.  For the past twenty-five years, the Holy Spirit has matured him and raised him up to be a voice in this generation teaching and proclaiming the Word of the Lord.

Wayne has served in various areas of ministry for over 25 years at the Church of God of East Flatbush, including deacon, trustee, and Director of Christian Education.  He has been a pioneer of Youth Ministries serving as youth pastor and initiated various outreach ministries aimed at addressing the needs of youth and young adults within the church and community.  He was instrumental in organizing and directing a sports ministry for young men, Men’s Assembly, an open forum for young men and S.A.L.T., a weekly youth bible studies program. He continues to pursue his passion for the holistic development of young men through a mentorship initiative, Boys to Men.

Wayne holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Mathematics and a Master’s degree in Math Education.  For more than 18 years, he has served as a middle & high school math teacher and Director of Mathematics in Nassau County.  His passion for education led to the birth of Back-to-School Empowerment Conference, an annual education-based weekend rally that motivates students towards achieving academic excellence, and equipping parents and guardians with the tools necessary for ensuring student success.

Wayne is deeply committed to leading this generation to an understanding of God’s Kingdom principles.  He does not waver from the belief that when individuals become armed with the truth of God’s word and the power of the Holy Spirit, they will truly become agents of change positioned to turn the world upside down!
